How to Mix Coal Tar Solution with Moisturizing Cream
Question
I would like to ask for advice. I previously ordered `Coal Tar Solution` from the company to mix with `Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream` for skin issues like psoriasis. I would like to know if there is a way to make the `Coal Tar Solution` become homogeneous with the `Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream`? Because when I mixed them, they did not combine well. Do you have any recommended methods?
Answer
How to Mix Coal Tar Solution with Moisturizing Cream
It is understandable that you are having difficulty mixing Coal Tar Solution with your Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. Coal Tar Solution is a viscous substance that doesn't easily combine with the structure of a cream emulsion, which is why they are separating.
To help the Coal Tar Solution mix more uniformly with the cream, you can try using a dispersing agent. A dispersing agent helps to break down and spread one substance evenly throughout another.
One ingredient that can help disperse difficult-to-mix substances into a base is LipidSoft™ Disperse. While primarily used for pigments, its properties can potentially help incorporate the Coal Tar Solution into your cream base.
Method Suggestion:
- Take a small amount of the Cetaphil cream in a separate container.
- Gradually add the desired amount of Coal Tar Solution to this small amount of cream.
- Mix this small batch vigorously until it is as uniform as possible. You could potentially try adding a very small amount of LipidSoft™ Disperse to the Coal Tar Solution first before mixing it into the cream, but test this on a tiny amount first.
- Once the small batch is well-mixed, gradually add the rest of the Cetaphil cream to it while continuously stirring or mixing thoroughly.
Keep in mind that mixing ingredients into a finished product like Cetaphil cream may not achieve the same level of stability or homogeneity as a product formulated from scratch. The mixture might still require shaking or stirring before each use.
Please also note that Coal Tar Solution is a potent ingredient often used in pharmaceutical products and should be used according to appropriate guidelines, especially when applied to skin conditions like psoriasis.
