Salts, such as Sodium Chloride (table salt) or Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom salt), are also commonly used as exfoliants, particularly in body scrubs. They provide a more physical, sometimes coarser, exfoliation depending on the crystal size.

While both Hydrated Silica and salts can act as exfoliants, they are different chemical compounds and are typically used in different types of formulations and for different purposes (e.g., Hydrated Silica in toothpaste, salts in body scrubs).
