Answer

Sericin (Hydrolyzed Silk Protein) Availability

Thank you for your interest in Sericin (silk protein). We appreciate your suggestion and the information you shared about its benefits in cosmetics.

We are pleased to inform you that MySkinRecipes does offer Hydrolyzed Silk Protein (Sericin). This ingredient is derived from silk and processed to be well-absorbed by skin and hair.

It is rich in amino acids, making it beneficial for use in skincare (creams, lotions) and hair care (shampoos, conditioners, treatments) to replenish lost amino acids.

We currently have two types available:

  • Hydrolyzed Silk Protein (Sericin, Powder, High Nitrogen): A type with high protein concentration.
  • Hydrolyzed Silk Protein (Sericin, Powder, Deodorized): A type that has been deodorized to reduce the natural protein smell.

Both are in powder form and can be mixed directly into the water phase of your formulation. The recommended usage rate is 0.1-1% (we recommend 0.3-0.5%).

Important Note: As this is a natural protein substance, it does not contain preservatives. You must include sufficient preservatives in your formulation to prevent microbial growth. It is recommended to perform a challenge test to ensure the effectiveness of your preservative system.

Regarding the Astaxanthin mentioned in the replies, it is also available.

We hope this information is helpful for your cosmetic formulations!
