Question
I have made a serum formulation and am encountering issues with the solubility of MSH White and the resulting texture feeling sticky. Based on my formula containing MSH White, Ethoxydiglycol, Glycerin, Pro Polymer, and Vitamin B3, how can I improve the solubility of MSH White and reduce the stickiness in my current batch? What adjustments should I consider for future batches?
Answer
Based on the staff's advice, here are the suggestions to improve the absorption and reduce the stickiness of your current serum batch:
- Add more Ethoxydiglycol: The staff recommends adding another 2 grams of Ethoxydiglycol to the current batch. This helps improve the dissolution of MSH White, which can contribute to the texture. The total amount of Ethoxydiglycol would then be 7 grams, which is within the recommended range (3-4 times the amount of MSH White).
- Consider SiliSilk: The stickiness is partly due to Glycerin and the nature of Pro Polymer. Pro Polymer can feel slightly sticky for a short period before absorbing. If you want to reduce this feeling and make it absorb faster, you can add 2-3% SiliSilk powder to the mixture.
- Notes for future batches: The staff also mentioned that Glycerin contributes to stickiness and could be omitted in future formulations if you prefer a less sticky feel. You could also consider increasing Vitamin B3 up to 5% in future batches.
For your current batch, try adding the extra Ethoxydiglycol and see if the texture improves. If it's still too sticky for your preference and you have SiliSilk, you can try adding that as well.
