Improving Slip and Spreadability in Body Oil Formulation

The feeling of "drag" or "friction" when applying a body oil often comes from using oils with a high molecular weight or high viscosity, which tend to sit on the skin longer and spread less easily. While the pre-selected product, Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum) Very Light (5cst) (ID: 10038), is already a light-viscosity oil, it might not provide the "silky slip" you are looking for when used as the main component or mixed with other heavy natural oils.

To significantly improve the slip, spreadability, and light feel of your body oil, you should incorporate a low-viscosity, fast-absorbing emollient ester. These esters are specifically designed to reduce the greasy feel and enhance the application experience.

We recommend replacing a portion of your current oil blend (e.g., 10-30% of the total oil phase) with one or a combination of the following:

1. LipidSoft™ Lite (Isononyl Isononanoate): This is a very light, fast-absorbing ester that provides excellent slip and a non-greasy, dry-touch finish. It is highly recommended for body oils and serums where a light feel is crucial.
2. LipidSoft™ Dry: This is an excellent choice for reducing the oily feel and increasing spreadability. It is known for its very dry, non-tacky feel, making the oil glide smoothly over the skin and absorb quickly.

Recommendation:
Start by replacing 10-20% of your current oil base with a combination of LipidSoft™ Lite and/or LipidSoft™ Dry. You can adjust the percentage until you achieve the desired level of slip and absorption.
