Question
What agent or method should be used to effectively incorporate fragrance into Mineral Oil (Very Light 15cst) for proper mixing and stability?
Answer
How to incorporate fragrance into Mineral Oil
Mineral oil and fragrance oil are generally miscible, so a strong coupling agent like an emulsifier (used for oil and water) is usually not needed.
However, if you find that your specific fragrance oil does not fully dissolve or remain stable in the mineral oil, you could consider using a solubilizer.
A product like Flora Solve™ Clear (Fragrance Solubilizer), while primarily described for use with water systems, is also noted to be soluble in oil and might help improve the incorporation and stability of fragrance in mineral oil.
General Method (if needed):
- Mix the fragrance oil with the solubilizer (e.g., Flora Solve™ Clear) in a separate container. A typical starting ratio for Flora Solve™ Clear is 2-5 parts solubilizer to 1 part fragrance oil. Stir or blend well.
- Slowly add this mixture to the mineral oil while stirring until fully combined.
