Question

I am trying to add Apple Phloretin™ (specifically 1% or 3%) into the Vitamin C E Ferulic Pre-Mix Kit (Lite) along with the Vitamin C powder. Is this possible? What are the challenges, and how can I successfully incorporate Phloretin into this serum base, especially at a 3% concentration?

Answer

Based on the staff's response, directly mixing Apple Phloretin™ into the Vitamin C E Ferulic Pre-Mix Kit (Lite) along with the Vitamin C powder is not recommended as the amount of Laureth-23 in the kit (3%) may not be sufficient to properly emulsify Apple Phloretin™, especially at higher concentrations (e.g., 3%).

Using a high concentration of Laureth-23 to compensate might also lead to clogged pores.

The staff suggests that while replacing Vitamin E with 1% Phloretin might be possible, a more effective approach, particularly for higher concentrations of Phloretin, is to formulate the product as a cream using a "cream maker". This method allows for better incorporation of oil-soluble ingredients like Vitamin E and Phloretin at desired levels without relying heavily on Laureth-23.
