Ingredient Availability and Ceramide Powder Heat Stability

Asked by: taeioyou On: January 29, 2019 Product Type: Cosmetics

Question

I have a few questions regarding ingredients:

  1. Is Centella Asiatica only available in one type now? Are the older types still available?
  2. Is Atopic Telmestein still available for sale?
  3. Is Ceramide powder heat resistant? I previously used the cream type and was advised to avoid heat, but there was no specific recommendation for the powder type.

Answer

Product Information Update

Here is the information regarding your inquiries:

  • Centella Asiatica: We have several types of Centella Asiatica extracts available, not just one. The types currently available include:

    • Centella Asiatica Extract (Madecassoside 90%)
    • Centella Acids (Madecassic acid, Asiatic acid, 90%)
    • ActiveRelease™ Centella Asiatica (Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Asiaticoside, Madecassoside)
    • Pure-TECA™ Centella Asiatica Extract (TECA 95%, CICA)
  • Atopic Telmestein: We could not find a product named Atopic Telmestein in our database at this time.

  • Ceramide Powder Heat Resistance: Regarding Ceramide powder, specifically the Ceramide Complex (Water/Oil Dispersible Powder), the mixing instructions indicate it can be dispersed using heat between 70-80°C in oil or glycol. This is different from the Ceramide Complex (CeraTouch™, Cream) which requires mixing below 40°C. However, for long-term storage of the Ceramide Complex (Water/Oil Dispersible Powder) ingredient and the finished cosmetic product, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator at 6-10°C to maintain quality. Freezing should be avoided as it may cause the ceramide to deteriorate.
