Question

I have two questions regarding cosmetic formulation:

  1. Can Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate be used together with Niacinamide?
  2. Can Trans-Resveratrol Powder 98% be dissolved in 1,2-Hexanediol?

Thank you.

Answer

Formulation Questions

1. Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate and Niacinamide Compatibility

Based on the product information for Perfect-C™ (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate), it is recommended not to use it with Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) in the same formula.

2. Trans-Resveratrol Powder 98% Solubility in 1,2-Hexanediol

Trans-Resveratrol (Powder, 98%) is soluble in Ethanol and other organic solvents, but not in water. The product description for 1,2-Hexanediol indicates it is soluble in water and acts as a solvent and penetration enhancer for some ingredients. However, 1,2-Hexanediol is not listed as a solvent for Trans-Resveratrol 98% powder in its description. Therefore, 1,2-Hexanediol is likely not a suitable primary solvent for dissolving Trans-Resveratrol 98% powder. Ethoxydiglycol is recommended in the Trans-Resveratrol description to help with skin penetration.
