Question
Can Colloidal Silver be mixed with Quaternium-73 (MicroKill™) and DeoMax™ Liquid? Also, can Lavender Water be used as a substitute for distilled water in a formulation?
Answer
Formulation Compatibility
Regarding the compatibility of Colloidal Silver, MicroKill ™ (Quaternium-73 Solution), and DeoMax ™ Liquid:
- Colloidal Silver is not compatible with ingredients that have a positive charge (cationic ingredients).
- Quaternium-73 is a cationic ingredient, meaning it has a positive charge.
Therefore, Colloidal Silver and Quaternium-73 are not compatible and should not be mixed in the same formulation. Mixing all three ingredients together is also not recommended due to this incompatibility.
Regarding using Lavender Water instead of distilled water:
- Lavender Water (Lavandula Angustifolia) can be used as the water phase in your formulation. It is produced by steam distillation and contains volatile essential oils from lavender, providing aroma and skin benefits.
- Please note that the Lavender Water product available is preserved with phenoxyethanol (0.8%). If you use it as the main ingredient (over 60%), you may not need to add additional preservatives.
