Question
I am formulating a sunscreen using the following ingredients:
SiliSolveSilicone Gel Base (Ultra Clear)LipidSoft™ LiteMatteSilica XL™Beige Iron Oxides EasyMix™SPF Protect Ultra™
Are these ingredients compatible with each other in this formulation? If not, what adjustments are needed to ensure they mix well and the formulation is stable?
Answer
Regarding the compatibility of the ingredients for your sunscreen formulation:
- The original list of ingredients, including SiliSolve, Silicone Gel Base (Ultra Clear), LipidSoft™ Lite, MatteSilica XL™, Beige Iron Oxides EasyMix™, and SPF Protect Ultra™, has a compatibility issue.
- The expert explained that SiliSolve cannot effectively combine the oil-based ingredients (LipidSoft™ Lite, SPF Protect Ultra™) with the silicone base (Silicone Gel Base).
- However, if you replace SiliSolve with SiliSolve Plus, all the ingredients will be compatible. SiliSolve Plus is capable of emulsifying oil and silicone phases, allowing them to mix properly.
- The powder ingredients (MatteSilica XL™ and Beige Iron Oxides EasyMix™) will disperse correctly within the silicone gel base.
Therefore, to ensure all ingredients mix well, it is recommended to use SiliSolve Plus instead of SiliSolve.
