Asked by: shoppingist On: September 12, 2018 Product Type: Cosmetics

Question

  1. Are [Product Name: Hi-EGCG™ (Green Tea Extract)], [Product Name: Tomato Extract (Lycopene)], and [Product Name: BaicaVital™ (Scutellaria Baicalensis Extract)] permanently discontinued?
  2. If switching from the old liquid [Product Name: Hi-EGCG™] to [Product Name: Pure-EGCG™ (Green Tea Extract, 98% EGCG)] (powder form) in a Toner formula containing only 0.2% [Product Name: Pro Polymer] as a gelling agent, will it cause precipitation?
  3. If I previously used 5% of the old liquid [Product Name: Hi-EGCG™ (Green Tea Extract)], what percentage of [Product Name: Pure-EGCG™ (Green Tea Extract, 98% EGCG)] should I use to achieve an equivalent effect?

Answer

Hello,

Regarding your questions about Hi-EGCG, Lycopene, and BaicaVital:

  1. Discontinuation: The manufacturer plans to produce these items until the end of 2019, and we will continue selling them until approximately June 2020. They are currently not displayed on the website to discourage their use in new formulations. However, customers who have previously used these ingredients can still order them by contacting care@myskinrecipes.com until June 2020, as stock is continuously available.
For new formulations, we recommend using:

    • Pure-EGCG™ instead of Hi-EGCG™
    • Pure-Baicalin™ instead of BaicaVital™ (Scutellaria Baicalensis Extract)
Please note that there is currently no replacement product for Lycopene extracted from Tomato.
  2. Precipitation with Pure-EGCG and Pro Polymer: Using Pure-EGCG™ (Green Tea Extract, 98% EGCG) in a Toner formula with 0.2% Pro Polymer will not cause precipitation. However, you must blend it thoroughly until it is completely integrated into the texture. You can check for complete integration by rubbing the mixture on your skin to ensure there is no active powder residue left.

  3. Equivalency of Hi-EGCG and Pure-EGCG: 5% of the old liquid Hi-EGCG™ is equivalent to 1% of Pure-EGCG™ (Green Tea Extract, 98% EGCG).

Thank you for your questions.
