Question

I have a formula containing Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer.

  1. Is Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer the same as Pro Polymer™ (Gel Maker)?
  2. Why is Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer needed in the formula when Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate is already included as an emulsifier?

Answer

Based on the staff's response:

  1. Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer vs. Pro Polymer™ (Gel Maker): The staff confirmed that Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer is the same group of ingredients as Pro Polymer™ (Gel Maker) based on the INCI name. However, they cannot confirm if they are the exact same product as the INCI name only indicates the group, not the specific commercial product.

  2. Reason for inclusion with Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate: The staff explained that using more than one emulsifier or stabilizer in a formula is beneficial. Having two such ingredients helps to enhance the overall stability of the formulation by working together to emulsify and stabilize the product.
