Inquiry about Lauryl Glucoside Solidification, Packaging, and Gentleness Comparison
Question
I have a couple of questions regarding surfactants:
- Which is gentler on the skin between MildWash and Lauryl Glucoside?
- Can Lauryl Glucoside be packaged in a wide-mouth container that allows scooping with a spoon? The current tall bottle packaging makes it difficult to use because when pouring, only the clear liquid portion comes out, leaving a cloudy, solidified mass at the bottom that cannot be poured out. I kept it at room temperature, not refrigerated. Warming the current bottle is also not feasible as it melted in the microwave. How can I get the solidified Lauryl Glucoside out?
Answer
Response to your formulation questions
Thank you for reaching out regarding your body wash formulation issues.
Based on the information from the replies:
ClearClean and Creamy Foamer/CocoWash Compatibility: The precipitation you observed when adding ClearClean (ID: 511) to your formula containing Creamy Foamer (ID: 305) and CocoWash (ID: 196) is likely due to an incompatibility between ClearClean and Creamy Foamer when ClearClean is used for thickening. According to the information provided, ClearClean is not suitable for thickening Creamy Foamer. Recommended thickeners for Creamy Foamer are SugarThick (ID: 510) or EasyThick (ID: 1042).
Mild Wash vs. Lauryl Glucoside Gentleness: We do not have comparative data available to determine which ingredient, Mild Wash (ID: 967) or Lauryl Glucoside (ID: 177), is gentler on the skin.
Solidified Lauryl Glucoside: Lauryl Glucoside (ID: 177) can solidify. To make it liquid and pourable, you can warm the bottle to above 50°C. Using a microwave is acceptable for this. We have noted your feedback regarding the packaging and are looking into changing it to a wide-mouth container in the future.
We hope this clarifies the issues you encountered with your formulation.
