Suggested Mixing Procedure for Your Lotion

Based on the properties of the active ingredients you plan to use, here is a suggested mixing procedure for your body lotion formulation:

• Activated Resorcinol™ (1%): This ingredient is oil-soluble and should be dissolved in your Phase B (Oil Phase) along with your other oil ingredients and emulsifier before combining with the water phase.
• Safe-B3™ (4%) and GlucoBright™ (4%): Both of these ingredients are water-soluble. Due to their sensitivity to prolonged heat, it is best to add them in the Phase C (Cool-down Phase) after your emulsion has been formed and has cooled down.

Your proposed percentages are within the recommended usage ranges for leave-on products, and the combination of Safe-B3 and GlucoBright is a recommended pairing for skin brightening.

Recommended Mixing Steps:

1. Phase A (Water Phase): Combine your water-soluble ingredients (except Safe-B3 and GlucoBright initially) and water. Add Disodium EDTA (recommended at 0.2% for Activated Resorcinol stability). Heat this phase if required by your emulsifier system.
2. Phase B (Oil Phase): Combine your oil ingredients and emulsifier. Dissolve the Activated Resorcinol™ (1%) in a small amount of oil or the main oil phase. Heat this phase if required by your emulsifier system.
3. Emulsification: Combine Phase A and Phase B according to your emulsifier's instructions (e.g., add oil to water or water to oil while mixing). Mix thoroughly until a stable emulsion is formed. Begin cooling the emulsion.
4. Phase C (Cool-down Phase): Once the emulsion has cooled down sufficiently (usually below 40°C), add Safe-B3™ (4%) and GlucoBright™ (4%). Mix well until they are completely dissolved and dispersed in the lotion. Add other cool-down ingredients like preservatives, fragrance, etc.
5. Final Adjustment: Check and adjust the pH of the final product to the optimal range for Activated Resorcinol, which is pH 4.5-5.5. This range also falls within the effective pH ranges for Safe-B3 and GlucoBright.

Important Considerations:

• Adding Disodium EDTA is crucial for helping to prevent Activated Resorcinol from discoloring over time.
• Protect the final product from light by using opaque packaging, as Activated Resorcinol is light-sensitive.
• Avoid prolonged heating of the final formula after adding Safe-B3 and GlucoBright.
