Question
I would like a melasma treatment formula suitable for combination skin that occasionally experiences clogged pores.
Answer
Hello,
For a melasma treatment formula suitable for combination skin with occasional clogged pores, our team has compiled ingredients focusing on reducing melasma and dark spots, controlling oiliness, and addressing clogged pores, while being suitable for combination skin.
We propose the following formula (amounts for 100g):
Melasma Treatment Formula for Combination Skin with Clogged Pores
- Water: 62.3%
- Satin Cream Maker™: 1.8% (Cream base agent, provides good texture)
- Phospholipid (Hydrogenated Lecithin): 2% (Penetration enhancer)
- Disodium EDTA: 0.1% (Chelating agent)
- Phenoxyethanol SA: 1% (Preservative)
- Tranexamic Acid (Trans-White™): 3% (Helps reduce melasma and dark spots)
- MSH White Absorb™: 4% (Helps reduce melanin production)
- GlucoBright™ (Acetyl glucosamine): 4% (Helps brighten skin, reduce dark spots)
- WhiteCumin™ 2x: 2.5% (Turmeric extract, helps brighten skin)
- Soy Extract (Isoflavones / Genistein): 4% (Helps reduce age spots and brighten skin)
- Safe-B3™ (Vitamin B3, Niacinamide): 5% (Helps control oil, reduce red/dark marks from acne, strengthens skin barrier)
- Willow Bark Extract (Natural Salicylic Acid): 2% (Helps exfoliate skin, reduce clogged pores)
- AcneBee™ Extra: 2% (Royal jelly extract, helps manage acne)
- Centella Asiatica Extract (Madecassoside 7.7%): 2% (Helps soothe skin, reduce irritation, promotes collagen synthesis)
- Allantoin: 0.3% (Helps reduce irritation, provides moisture)
- Natto Gum: 4% (Helps increase skin moisture without stickiness)
Mixing Instructions:
- In a single container, weigh the water and all water-soluble ingredients: Disodium EDTA, Allantoin, Natto Gum, Tranexamic Acid, MSH White Absorb, GlucoBright, WhiteCumin, Soy Extract, Safe-B3 (Niacinamide), Willow Bark Extract, AcneBee Extra, Centella Asiatica Extract
- Stir or mix with a homogenizer until all ingredients are dissolved or dispersed well.
- Add Phospholipid and Satin Cream Maker™ to the mixture from step 2.
- Stir or mix with a homogenizer at medium speed until the mixture is emulsified and the desired cream texture is achieved (if a thicker cream is desired, you can slightly increase Satin Cream Maker™ as per previous staff advice).
- Add Phenoxyethanol SA (preservative) to the cream base.
- Stir or mix until homogeneous.
Additional Recommendations:
- This formula contains ingredients that address melasma, dark spots, and clogged pores in a single product.
- The ingredient percentages are suitable for addressing these concerns in combination skin.
- If the cream texture becomes too thin after adding Willow Bark Extract, consider increasing Satin Cream Maker™ or adding a gel-forming agent like Pro Polymer at 0.5-1.0%.
- Always perform a patch test before use and consistently use effective sunscreen during the day to prevent melasma recurrence.
We hope this formula is helpful. Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
