Question

Can an active ingredient that must be dissolved in oil be mixed into the Aloe Vera Gel (Lite) base?

Answer

Mixing Oil-Soluble Actives into Aloe Vera Gel (Lite)

Aloe Vera Gel (Lite) is an oil-free, water-based gel base. Generally, oil-soluble active ingredients cannot be mixed directly into oil-free water bases because oil and water do not mix without an emulsifying agent.

Attempting to mix an oil-soluble active directly into this base will likely result in the active separating from the gel or not dispersing evenly throughout the product. Therefore, this base is not suitable for directly incorporating oil-soluble active ingredients.
