Question

I have purchased perfume oil and have two questions regarding mixing:

  1. If I do not want to mix with Alcohol, can I mix with Dipropylene Glycol (perfume base) instead?
    • What is the mixing ratio if the perfume oil is 1 part? How many parts of Dipropylene Glycol (perfume base) should be used?
  2. If I want to mix the perfume oil with both Alcohol and Dipropylene Glycol (perfume base), is this possible?
    • What is the mixing ratio if the perfume oil is 1 part? How many parts of Alcohol and how many parts of Dipropylene Glycol (perfume base) should be used?

Answer

Regarding your questions about mixing perfume oil:

  • Mixing with Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) instead of alcohol: Yes, you can mix perfume oil with Dipropylene Glycol. Dipropylene Glycol is a suitable base for perfumes and helps to dissolve the fragrance oil well. It also acts as a fixative, helping the scent last longer. The mixing ratio depends on the desired strength of the fragrance and the specific perfume oil you are using. Generally, Dipropylene Glycol can be used from 1% up to 100% when mixing with perfume oil.

  • Mixing with both Alcohol and Dipropylene Glycol: Yes, it is also possible to mix perfume oil with both Ethyl Alcohol and Dipropylene Glycol. The specific ratio of perfume oil, Ethyl Alcohol, and Dipropylene Glycol will again depend on the desired fragrance strength and the characteristics of the perfume oil. You can adjust the proportions to achieve the desired scent intensity and longevity.
