Modifying Stabilized Vitamin C Serum
Question
I would like to modify the Stabilized Vitamin C (Natural-C Glycol™) Serum. Can I add 2% Pure-Phloretin™ powder to it? Also, can I substitute Propylene Glycol for Ethoxydiglycol in this serum?
Answer
Adding Ingredients to Stabilized Vitamin C Serum
Regarding your questions about modifying the Stabilized Vitamin C (Natural-C Glycol™) Serum:
Adding Apple Phloretin: Adding 2% Pure-Phloretin™ powder to the serum will likely cause it to become cloudy. Pure-Phloretin™ is a powder that disperses rather than fully dissolving in water or oil-based formulas, which would affect the clarity of a clear liquid serum.
Substituting Propylene Glycol for Ethoxydiglycol: The Stabilized Vitamin C (Natural-C Glycol™) Serum is formulated as a finished product and the manufacturer advises against adding or substituting ingredients, as this can compromise the stability of the vitamin C. While Propylene Glycol and Ethoxydiglycol are both glycols and solvents, they have different properties and substituting one for the other in this specific pre-made formula is not recommended by the manufacturer and could affect the product's stability and performance. It is best to use the Stabilized Vitamin C (Natural-C Glycol™) Serum as is, or consult with the R&D team for guidance on modifications.
