Particle Size for Shimmer Lotion

For adding shimmer or a pearly effect to lotion, especially to achieve a smooth texture similar to commercial products, it's best to use very fine particles.

• Finer particles (around 30-70 microns): These provide a subtle, pearly shimmer and feel smooth on the skin. They disperse well in lotion bases.
• Larger particles (100+ microns, e.g., 160 or 300 microns): These give a more noticeable sparkle effect, but they can sometimes feel slightly gritty or rough in a smooth lotion base compared to finer particles.

Based on typical cosmetic formulations and available ingredients, a particle size in the range of 30 to 70 microns is generally recommended for a smooth, pearly shimmer in lotion. Products like Light Gold Pearl Mica (Size A, 30 Micron) would be suitable for this purpose.

If you prefer a more intense sparkle and don't mind a slightly different texture, larger sizes like Silver Sparkle Mica (Size C, 160 Micron) or Silver Super Sparkle Mica (Size D, 300 Micron) could be considered, but test the texture carefully in your formulation.
