Peptide Cream Formulation: Texture, Compatibility, and Mixing

คำถาม

I have a formula for a peptide cream and have some questions:

Formula:

  1. Water (81%)
  2. Matrixyl 3000 (6.6%)
  3. Copper Peptide (3%)
  4. Pep-Coll (3%)
  5. Vitamin B5 (3.4%)
  6. PE1-Aqua (2%)
  7. Light Cream Maker (1%)

Questions:

  1. Can this formula be mixed? Previously, I used Pro Polymer™ 0.7% and didn't like the sticky texture. Will using Light Cream Maker instead improve the texture?
  2. If I use PE1-Aqua to enhance penetration, will it cause any problems with the formula?
  3. Can Pitera be used instead of Water, and will it affect Copper Peptide?
  4. What are the correct mixing steps (water phase into oil phase, or vice versa)? I'm unsure if I should pour the water phase into the oil phase or the oil phase into the water phase.
  5. Can a modified Grape Seed Oil formula (containing Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Oryzanol, Alpha Lipoic Acid) be layered over Copper Peptide cream after laser treatment? I've read that Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA Ready™) might be a chelating agent and could affect Copper Peptide. Is this correct?

Hello, I will answer the additional questions from your previous message.

Regarding the Copper Peptide Light Cream formula:

  1. Can the formula above be mixed, and will using Light Cream Maker instead of Pro Polymer™ improve the texture?

    • This formula can be mixed.
    • Switching from Pro Polymer™ to Light Cream Maker will result in a somewhat different texture. However, if you want to significantly reduce stickiness and increase smoothness, the team recommends adding an ingredient specifically designed to modify texture, such as Silicone Gel, at approximately 10% into the formula.
    • Additionally, the team suggests adding Safe-B3 (Vitamin B3) at 5% to work with Vitamin B5 and help strengthen the skin barrier.
  2. Will using PE1-Aqua to enhance penetration cause problems with the formula?

    • No, there will be no problems. You can use PE1-Aqua in the formula as usual.
  3. Can Pitera be used instead of Water, and will it affect Copper Peptide?

    • Yes, you can use Pitera instead of Water, and it will not affect Copper Peptide.
    • However, using Pitera might make the texture stickier if other ingredients that help modify texture, such as Silicone or Emollient, are not used in the formula.
  4. Mixing steps (adding the water phase to the oil phase, or vice versa)?

    • The mixing steps depend on the type of thickener/emulsifier used.
      • If using Pro Polymer™: Add the oil phase into the water phase.
      • If using Light Cream Maker: Gradually add the water phase little by little into the oil phase and mix well.
    • It is recommended to check the detailed instructions for each ingredient on its product page on the website for accuracy.

Regarding using the Grape Seed Oil formula layered over Copper Peptide cream after laser treatment:

  • You can use the modified Grape Seed Oil formula layered over the Copper Peptide cream as usual; there are no issues.
  • Your finding is correct: Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA Ready™) can act as a chelating agent, which might affect Copper Peptide. Therefore, Alpha Lipoic Acid should be removed from the Grape Seed Oil formula if you intend to use it together with or layered over Copper Peptide cream.
  • Other ingredients in the Grape Seed Oil formula, such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Oryzanol, and Grape Seed Oil itself, are not chelating agents and can be used with Copper Peptide.
  • For very dry skin after laser treatment that requires more intensive nourishment, besides layering oil, the team suggests considering making a cream with a higher oil or butter content (e.g., using Shea Butter at about 20%) combined with water-soluble active ingredients. This will result in a cream texture that helps coat the skin and provide effective nourishment.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you,
MySkinRecipes Team
