Pilling issue in Cream/Gel formulation with Light Cream Maker and Pro Polymer

Question

I am developing a cream formulation using Light Cream Maker (1.5-2%) and Pro Polymer (1%). I am experiencing pilling.

Could this pilling issue be caused by other ingredients in the formula, specifically PowderCream?

If I remove PowderCream from the formula, will the pilling issue be resolved? I need the formula to have sufficient viscosity for packaging in a jar.

Answer

Based on the previous discussion with the staff, the pilling issue you are experiencing is most likely caused by the high concentration of PowderCream™ in your formula, especially when used with cold process emulsifiers.

The staff has confirmed that if you remove PowderCream™ from the formula, the combination of Pro Polymer 1% and Light Cream Maker at 1.5-2% should not cause pilling. Using Light Cream Maker at 2% should help achieve the desired viscosity for packaging in a jar.

Therefore, removing PowderCream™ is recommended to solve the pilling problem. The remaining ingredients, including Pro Polymer and Light Cream Maker at the proposed levels, are not expected to cause this issue.
