Question

I am making lip balm but do not want to use Beeswax. Which plant-based waxes can be used as alternatives?

I am also making lip gloss in a dip-in tube packaging and am concerned about saliva contamination. Can I use Mild Preserve Eco as a preservative, and what is the recommended usage percentage?

Answer

Plant-Based Wax Alternatives for Lip Balm

If you are making lip balm and prefer not to use Beeswax, you can consider plant-based alternatives such as:

  • Candelilla Wax
  • Rice Bran Wax
  • Sunflower Wax

Each of these plant waxes has a different texture, so it is recommended to test them to find the one you prefer for your formulation.

Preservative for Lip Gloss

Regarding adding a preservative to lip gloss, especially for a dip-in applicator where saliva contamination is a concern, you can use Mild Preserved Eco.

The recommended usage rate for Mild Preserved Eco in this type of formulation is 1%.
