Regarding Deoxyarbutin (D-Arbutin)
Thank you for your interest and for sharing the information from the seminar regarding Deoxyarbutin (D-Arbutin) and its potential for skin whitening.
We understand that Deoxyarbutin is reported to have high whitening efficacy, potentially surpassing Alpha-Arbutin in some aspects based on certain studies.
However, the primary reason MySkinRecipes does not currently offer Deoxyarbutin for sale is due to significant concerns regarding its stability. Under unsuitable conditions in a formulation, Deoxyarbutin can degrade and transform into Hydroquinone. As you may know, Hydroquinone is a substance that is harmful to the body and is prohibited for use in cosmetics by the FDA.
While there are formulation guidelines to help stabilize Deoxyarbutin (such as maintaining a specific pH range and using stabilizers like ActiveProtec™ OX and Vitamin E Acetate), its inherent instability and the risk of generating Hydroquinone make it a challenging ingredient to handle safely and legally for general sale.
Furthermore, while internal trials suggest high efficacy, some information indicates there is a lack of independent research definitively confirming its superior whitening effect compared to Alpha-Arbutin across all users. It also carries a risk of skin irritation, requiring careful formulation and usage.
Therefore, prioritizing customer safety and compliance with regulations, we have chosen not to stock Deoxyarbutin at this time due to the stability issues and the potential formation of Hydroquinone.
