We have recommended formulations for sunscreen, including formulas primarily using Physical Sunscreen and formulas using Chemical Sunscreen.
Formula Primarily Using Titanium Dioxide Transparent (Physical Sunscreen)
This formula is a Water-in-Oil emulsion, which provides a light texture, good water resistance, and high SPF value.
- Titanium Dioxide Transparent (15nm, Dimethicone Coated) 10%
- SPF Protect Ultra™ II 5%
- Warp Cream Maker™ XL 14%
- LipidSoft™ Lite 15%
- ISO-Lite Fast 15%
- Water 40%
- Magnesium Sulfate (High Purity, Cosmetics Grade) 1%
- Mild Preserved Eco™ (Preservative-Free) 1%
Mixing Steps:
- Water Phase: Mix Water, Magnesium Sulfate, and Mild Preserved Eco™ together. Stir until completely dissolved.
- Oil Phase: Mix Titanium Dioxide Transparent, SPF Protect Ultra™ II, Warp Cream Maker™ XL, LipidSoft™ Lite, and ISO-Lite Fast together. Heat to 80°C and blend or stir until homogeneous.
- While continuously blending the oil phase, gradually add the water phase into the oil phase little by little (do not alternate and add slowly while blending). Blend continuously until well combined to get a cream texture.
- Note:* Using Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide together in a sunscreen formula helps provide broad-spectrum protection covering all UVA/UVB wavelengths.
Formula Primarily Using SPF Protect Ultra™ II (Chemical Sunscreen)
This formula is an Oil-in-Water emulsion, also providing a light texture.
SPF 50+ PA++ Formula
- SPF Protect Ultra™ II 15%
- Milk Lotion Maker 3%
- Satin Cream Maker 0.7%
- Water 80.3%
- Mild Preserved Eco™ (Preservative-Free) 1%
SPF 90+ PA++ Formula
- SPF Protect Ultra™ II 30%
- Milk Lotion Maker 3%
- Satin Cream Maker 0.7%
- Water 65.3%
- Mild Preserved Eco™ (Preservative-Free) 1%
Mixing Steps (for SPF Protect Ultra™ II formulas):
- Mix SPF Protect Ultra™ II and Milk Lotion Maker together, warming to 70°C and blending or stirring until homogeneous (Oil Phase).
- Warm Water to 60-70°C (Water Phase).
- Blend the oil phase and gradually add the water phase into the oil phase while blending. Blend for at least 15 minutes.
- Add Satin Cream Maker and whisk until completely dissolved. The texture will thicken.
- Add Mild Preserved Eco™ and blend until combined.
- Note:* SPF Protect Ultra™ II is a highly stable Chemical Sunscreen that does not easily degrade when exposed to UVA/UVB radiation.
Zinc Oxide Transparent Dispersion (C12-15 alkyl benzoate Base) can be used to enhance UVA protection and reduce the whitening effect of the cream. It is recommended to use it in conjunction with Titanium Dioxide or other Chemical Sunscreens.
Please note that these formulas are initial examples. For actual product development for sale, stability testing and SPF/PA testing should be conducted to ensure the quality and safety of the product.
