Question

Please review the following two formulations I have created:

Night Gel:

  • Aloe Vera Gel (Lite) 59%
  • Repair Activator™ 10%
  • Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline) 10%
  • Safe-B3™ (Vitamin B3, Niacinamide) 10%
  • Slim-Coffee™ 5%
  • Alpha Arbutin (China, Enzymatic Synthesis) 2%
  • GlucoBright™ (Acetyl glucosamine) 3%
  • Phenoxyethanol SA (Optiphen Plus) 1%

Daytime Spray:

  • น้ำกลั่น 77%
  • DMAE (SkinTight MD™) Liquid 15%
  • Panthenol (Vitamin B5) ExtraLite™ 5%
  • GlucoBright™ (Acetyl glucosamine) 2%
  • Phenoxyethanol SA (Optiphen Plus) 1%

Could you please provide feedback on the compatibility, stability, and recommended usage concentrations for these ingredients, especially considering the base and overall percentages?

Answer

Hello,

I have reviewed the formulations you sent, based on the advice from our expert team. Here are the suggestions:

For the Night Gel:

  • Slim-Coffee™: This ingredient is an electrolyte and may cause the gel texture to become liquid. The team recommends omitting it, especially if you are new to formulating.
  • Other Ingredients: The remaining ingredients are compatible.
  • Texture: Using a relatively high percentage of many active ingredients means the Aloe Vera Gel (Lite) base is only 59%, which might result in a rather liquid texture.

For the Daytime Spray:

  • DMAE (SkinTight MD™) Liquid: For skin that has not used DMAE before, a concentration of 15% is quite high and may cause irritation. The team recommends starting at a low level, not exceeding 5%.
  • Panthenol (Vitamin B5) ExtraLite™: A concentration of 5% is considered quite high for normal skin. The team suggests that 2% is sufficient.

Additional Recommendations from the Team:

  • In fact, using just the first gel formula might be sufficient.
  • You may consider adding Panthenol (Vitamin B5) ExtraLite™ at 1-2% to the gel formula (while reducing the proportion of some other ingredients, such as Safe-B3™ to 5%) and use it both morning and evening. You can apply a thicker layer in the evening.
  • DMAE cannot be added to the gel formula because it is a high electrolyte and will cause the gel to turn into water.

You can consider adjusting your formulas based on these recommendations before placing your order.
