Formula Review and Adjustment

Formula 1

Formula 1 is a good formula with several ingredients focused on nourishment and wrinkle reduction, such as Galactomyces, Repair Activator, Pep Coll, Ectoine, and Methylsilanol Mannuronate, which work well together.

• Pro Polymer and DMI: DMI (Dimethyl Isosorbide) is a solvent and helps deliver active ingredients into the skin effectively. Using DMI with Pro Polymer is not contradictory. Pro Polymer functions to create the gel texture in the water phase, while DMI helps enhance the effectiveness of the active ingredients in the formula by improving their penetration into the skin. Therefore, using DMI in this formula is beneficial in helping various active ingredients like peptides or extracts penetrate the skin better. It is not necessary to remove it if you want to enhance penetration efficiency.

• Mixing Steps (Can be mixed by hand):

  1. Weigh DI Water and DMI together in a clean container.
  2. Slowly sprinkle Pro Polymer onto the surface of the water, letting it sink in gradually, or gently stir with a spatula to help disperse it. Do not stir vigorously or blend quickly at this stage as it will cause Pro Polymer to clump.
  3. Allow to sit for about 15-30 minutes for Pro Polymer to fully hydrate and swell.
  4. Once Pro Polymer has swollen, gently stir the entire mixture until a uniform gel texture is obtained.
  5. Add the other active ingredients one by one (Galactomyces, Repair Activator, Pep Coll, Ectoine, Methylsilanol Mannuronate). Stir to combine.
  6. Add Mild Preserved Eco and stir to combine as the final step.
  7. (Recommended) Check and adjust the pH of the formula to the range of approximately 5.5-6.5 for stability and optimal performance.

• Suitability for Normal to Combination Skin, Ages 45-50: This formula is suitable for normal to combination skin and is well-suited for ages 45-50 and above. The ingredients help with moisture, wrinkle reduction, and strengthening the skin.

• Storage: Should be stored in a cool place away from sunlight. To extend the shelf life as long as possible, especially for fermented ingredients, refrigeration is recommended.

• Use around the eyes: Can be used around the eyes, but should test for allergy or irritation on a small area before applying to the entire eye area, as the skin around the eyes is more delicate than other facial skin.

Formula 2

Formula 2 has interesting ingredients like Alaria Esculenta and Yeast Resurface which help with cell turnover and wrinkle reduction.

• Can it be mixed: This formula contains 20% oil (Olive Oil) and uses Pro Polymer, which is a water-based gelling agent. This formula cannot be mixed into a stable, single phase because there is no emulsifier to help combine the water and oil. The water and oil will separate.

• Formula Adjustment: If you want it to be a stable gel serum like the first formula, and suitable for normal to combination skin, it is recommended to remove the oil ingredient (Olive Oil) and increase the DI Water instead, to get a light and stable serum texture.

  • Adjusted Formula 2:

    1. Alaria Esculenta 1%
    2. Pro Polymer 1%
    3. DI Water 94.5% (Increased from 74.5 + 20 from Olive Oil)
    4. Yeast Resurface 3%
    5. Mild Preserved Eco 0.5%
    • Total 100%

  • Mixing Steps (Adjusted Formula 2): The mixing steps will be similar to Formula 1.

    1. Weigh DI Water in a clean container.
    2. Slowly sprinkle Pro Polymer onto the surface of the water. Let it swell for about 15-30 minutes.
    3. Stir the mixture until a uniform gel texture is obtained.
    4. Add Alaria Esculenta and Yeast Resurface. Stir to combine.
    5. Add Mild Preserved Eco and stir to combine as the final step.
    6. (Recommended) Check and adjust pH.

• Suitability for Normal to Combination Skin, Ages 45-50: This adjusted formula is also suitable for normal to combination skin and ages 45-50 and above.

Usage for Both Formulas

Both formulas (Formula 1 and the adjusted Formula 2) can be used both morning and evening.
