Question

I have developed a formula and mixing steps for a lifting serum. Could you please review it and provide feedback?

My proposed formula is:

  1. Cyclomethicone 35%
  2. Moringa Seed 20%
  3. Grape Seed Oil 10%
  4. Argireline 10%
  5. Matrixyl™ 3000 8%
  6. DMAE ชนิดเหลว 4%
  7. LIGHT CREAM MAKER 2%
  8. Hyaluronic Standard Molecule 0.5%
  9. Hyaluronic Nano Molecule 0.5%
  10. น้ำ 13.5%
  11. Phenoxyethanol 0.5%

The mixing steps are:

  • A: Mix 8 + 9 + 10 + 11 together, stir well, and refrigerate.
  • B: Mix 1 + 2 + 3, then add 7 and stir well. Set aside.
  • Take the water mixture (A) and add 4 + 5 + 6, stirring well.
  • Pour the water mixture (A) into the prepared (B) mixture and stir until thickened into a cream texture.
  • The process is then complete.

Revised Formula and Steps for Lifting Serum for Combination Skin

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your proposed lifting serum formula, Yink. It contains excellent key ingredients for lifting and reducing wrinkles, including Argireline, Matrixyl™ 3000, and DMAE, which work well together. It also includes Hyaluronic Acid for moisture and nourishing oils like Moringa Seed Oil and Grape Seed Oil.

Based on the formula and steps you provided, there are a few points that can be adjusted to achieve a texture more suitable for combination skin and to ensure the steps are correct based on the ingredient properties.

Feedback on the Original Formula and Steps:

  • Preservative (Phenoxyethanol): It should be added in the final step after the cream/serum has formed for optimal effectiveness and to avoid exposure to high heat.
  • Emulsifier: Light Cream Maker™ is not suitable for formulas with a high percentage of silicone (Cyclomethicone) like 35%. As previously advised, it is recommended to use Warp Cream Maker™ instead, which is designed for high-silicone formulas to prevent separation.
  • Oil Percentage: The total oil percentage (Moringa Seed Oil 20% + Grape Seed Oil 10% totaling 30%) is quite high, which might make the serum feel heavy or sticky for combination skin. If using Warp Cream Maker™, the oil percentage should be reduced as advised by the staff.

Revised Lifting Serum Formula for Combination Skin:

To achieve a lighter, easily absorbed serum texture suitable for combination skin while maintaining effectiveness for lifting and wrinkle reduction, we suggest the following revised formula:

  • Cyclomethicone 30%
  • Moringa Seed Oil 5%
  • Grape Seed Oil 5%
  • Argireline 8%
  • Matrixyl™ 3000 5%
  • DMAE (SkinTight MD™) Liquid 3%
  • Warp Cream Maker™ 5%
  • Hyaluronic Acid (Standard Molecule) 0.5%
  • Hyaluronic Acid (Nano Molecule, 800daltons) 0.5%
  • Phenoxyethanol (Extra Pure) 0.5%
  • Water: Balance to 100% (approximately 37.5%)

Revised Mixing Steps:

  1. Phase A (Oil/Silicone Phase): Combine Cyclomethicone, Moringa Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil, and Warp Cream Maker™. Stir or blend until homogeneous.
  2. Phase B (Water Phase): Combine Water, Hyaluronic Acid (Standard Molecule), and Hyaluronic Acid (Nano Molecule, 800daltons). Stir or blend until the Hyaluronic Acid powders are completely dissolved and a gel forms (this may require time or blending).
  3. Emulsification: While blending Phase A, gradually add Phase B to Phase A little by little. Continue blending until all ingredients are combined and a cream/serum is formed.
  4. Add Actives: Once the cream/serum base is ready, add Argireline, Matrixyl™ 3000, and DMAE (SkinTight MD™) Liquid. Stir or blend until well combined. (Ensure the temperature of the serum base is below 40°C before adding the peptide and DMAE actives).
  5. Add Preservative: Add Phenoxyethanol (Extra Pure) as the final ingredient. Stir or blend until homogeneous.

This revised formula and steps should result in a serum with a better texture for combination skin while effectively addressing wrinkles and sagging.
