Safe Method for Mixing Perfume Spray

Heating alcohol directly is very dangerous due to its flammability, and it's good that you stopped when you noticed the issue. You should never heat alcohol when making perfumes.

The standard and safe method for creating alcohol-based perfumes is to mix the ingredients at room temperature.

Here’s a safe way to mix your perfume using alcohol, fragrance, and LipidSoft Lite:

• Step 1: Mix Fragrance and LipidSoft Lite

  • In a separate container, mix the fragrance oil you want to use with LipidSoft™ Lite (Isononyl Nonanoate).
  • Stir or mix this blend well. LipidSoft Lite helps disperse the fragrance oil and acts as an emollient for a softer skin feel when sprayed.
  • If you have an ingredient intended as a fixative, such as 12H Fix™ (although we couldn't find specific information for this product in our system), fixatives are generally mixed with the fragrance oil at this stage as well.

• Step 2: Combine with Alcohol

  • Slowly pour the fragrance and LipidSoft Lite mixture from Step 1 into your Perfume Base Alcohol.
  • Stir or mix the entire solution gently until it is well combined and clear.
  • Do not apply any heat. Mixing at room temperature is sufficient for the ingredients to combine.

• Step 3: Maceration

  • Seal the container tightly and store the perfume in a cool, dark place for at least 2-4 weeks (or longer for best results). This process, called maceration, allows all the ingredients to fully integrate and the fragrance scent to develop complexity and longevity.

Mixing this way is much safer than using heat with alcohol and will still allow your ingredients to combine effectively in the alcohol base.
