Question

I am trying to create a formula using Satin Cream Maker or Pro Polymer and including DMAE. The formula is becoming liquid. What is causing this issue, and what are the recommended solutions or alternative emulsifiers that are compatible with DMAE?

Subject: Satin Mousse becomes liquid in formula with DMAE

Hello,

The reason your formula becomes liquid when using Satin Mousse with DMAE is due to the electrolyte nature of DMAE. Electrolytes can interfere with the emulsifying properties of certain emulsifiers like Satin Mousse.

While you could try increasing the amount of Satin Mousse or Pro Polymer (a thickener that can tolerate some electrolytes) to compensate, this is generally not recommended as it increases cost and may not fully resolve the issue.

A better approach is to use a cream maker or emulsifier that is not affected by electrolytes. Based on the staff's recommendation, suitable alternatives include:

  • Butter Cream Maker
  • SiliSolve
  • SiliSolve Plus

These emulsifiers are recommended for use in formulations containing electrolytes like DMAE and should help you achieve a stable cream texture without needing heat.

Thank you.
