Question
I am planning to formulate a serum and would like a thin, clear texture (not as thin as plain water). Which serum base should I use?
Could you provide the names of serum bases that can dissolve both water and oil, as well as a base that can only dissolve water?
Also, in a serum formulation, can I include multiple active ingredients with various properties, such as:
- Vitamin B3
- Alpha Arbutin
- Amino Acids
- Hyaluron
- Repair Activator
- Pep Coll
- Argireline
- Water Lock
- Vitamin B5
- Tea Tree Oil
Since there are many properties, would adding them all like this be suitable?
Answer
Subject: Full Formulation
Hello,
Regarding your questions:
- For a serum with a thin, clear texture that can dissolve both water and oil, the staff recommended using Satin Cream Maker at 1%. This base can incorporate up to 20% oil. The staff did not provide a specific recommendation for a water-only soluble base in this reply.
- Yes, you can include multiple active ingredients with different properties in one serum formulation, such as Vitamin B3, Alpha Arbutin, Amino Acids, Hyaluron, Repair Activator, Pep Coll, Argireline, Water Lock, Vitamin B5, and Tea Tree Oil. However, it is important to check the manufacturer's recommended usage rate for each ingredient and use them within those specified limits. Do not exceed the maximum recommended usage rate for any ingredient.
