Question
I have made a serum using the following ingredients:
- Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (Pitera)
- Repair Activator (Bifida Ferment Lysate)
- Safe-B3 (Niacinamide)
- Hyaluronic Acid powders
I noticed a slight smell similar to coconut water and the texture is quite liquid. Is this normal? Is the formula suitable?
Answer
Based on your revised formula and the discussion, the combination of Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (Pitera), Repair Activator, Safe-B3 (Niacinamide), and Hyaluronic Acid powders is a good formulation for hydration and skin rejuvenation.
Here are some points based on the feedback:
- Benefits: The ingredients work well together to provide moisturizing and revitalizing effects.
- Texture: As noted in the discussion, using only Hyaluronic Acid powders might result in a very liquid consistency, not a thick serum. This could potentially cause the Repair Activator to settle. For future batches, if you prefer a thicker serum texture, you could add a small percentage (around 0.5%) of a gel maker like Pro Polymer or Xanthan Gum. For the current batch, be prepared for a more liquid texture, and shake well before use if you notice any settling.
- Smell: The slight smell is normal and comes from the fermented ingredients (Pitera, Repair Activator).
- Preservative: Your revised formula does not include extra preservative, which is appropriate as Pitera contains sufficient preservative.
Overall, the formula you have chosen is suitable for your goals, just be mindful of the potential liquid texture.
