Question
Which type of silica can encapsulate oil into a powder form that can then revert back to oil?
Answer
None of our current Oil-Fix™ silica products possess the capability to encapsulate oil into a powder form that can then revert back to oil.
Our Oil-Fix™ range of silica products are primarily designed for the following functions:
- Thickening and Gelling: They act as thickening and gelling agents for various oils, silicones, and glycols, helping to create desired textures in formulations.
- Emulsion Stabilization: Products like Oil-Fix™ W, O, and S are effective stabilizers for water-in-oil or water-in-silicone emulsions, improving the overall stability of creams and other formulations.
- Texture Modification: They can enhance the skin-feel of products by reducing stickiness, providing a matte finish, and improving waterproof performance (especially Oil-Fix™ W).
- Pigment Dispersion: Some types, like Oil-Fix™ W, can help distribute and capture pigments evenly in make-up formulations, preventing separation.
While these products offer excellent benefits for formulation stability and texture, they do not provide the specific oil encapsulation and release mechanism you described.
