Silicone-Free Waterproof Sunscreen Formulation
คำถาม
How can I make a sunscreen formula waterproof and sweatproof without using silicones, as an alternative to the discontinued WaterGuard? What formulation type and ingredients are recommended for this purpose?
คำตอบ
Silicone-Free Waterproofing for SPF
Water Guard is no longer available. As an alternative for creating waterproof and sweatproof SPF formulations like SPF Protect Plus or SPF Protect Ultra without using silicones, the recommended approach is to create a Water-in-Oil (W/O) cream formulation.
This can be achieved using Water-Capsule™ (Water-in-Oil Cream) as the emulsifier. Water-Capsule™ allows you to create a water-in-oil cream using only a small amount of oil (5-20%), which helps avoid the typical stickiness associated with traditional water-in-oil formulas.
The water-in-oil structure created by Water-Capsule™ provides excellent water repellency and durability on the skin, making your sunscreen formula waterproof and long-lasting, even when exposed to sweat or water.
For the oil phase in this type of formulation, a light-textured oil is recommended to ensure the final product is not heavy or greasy. LipidSoft™ Lite (Isononyl Nonanoate) is a suitable choice as it has a very light, non-oily texture and was developed as a silicone alternative, providing a soft and smooth feel without clogging pores.
