Simple Serum/Toner Formula (No Blend)

This formula is designed to be a water-based serum or toner that is easy to make without needing a blender. It combines skin brightening, anti-aging, and moisturizing ingredients.

Ingredients:

• Water (Distilled or Deionized): The main base for the serum.
• Glycerin: A humectant to attract moisture and also helps dissolve some ingredients.
• Alpha Arbutin: For skin brightening and evening skin tone.
• Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide): Helps reduce wrinkles, redness, hyperpigmentation, and control oil.
• Coenzyme Q10 Powder: An antioxidant for anti-aging benefits.
• Flora Solve™ Clear: A solubilizer to disperse the oil-soluble Coenzyme Q10 in the water base.
• Tetrahydropiperine: A natural penetration enhancer to help ingredients absorb better.
• Mild Preserved™ COS: A broad-spectrum preservative to keep the product safe.

Example Formulation (Percentages are approximate and can be adjusted based on desired strength and ingredient supplier recommendations):

• Water: up to 100%
• Glycerin: 5-10%
• Alpha Arbutin: 1-2%
• Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide): 3-5%
• Coenzyme Q10 Powder: 0.1-0.5%
• Flora Solve™ Clear: 0.5-2.5% (Use 2-5 times the amount of Coenzyme Q10)
• Tetrahydropiperine: 0.01%
• Mild Preserved™ COS: 0.75-1.5%

Simple Mixing Method (No Blending):

1. Prepare the Water Phase: In a clean beaker or container, weigh out the water, most of the Glycerin (keep a small amount aside for dissolving Tetrahydropiperine), Alpha Arbutin, and Vitamin B3. Stir well until all powders are completely dissolved. Gentle warming (below 40°C) can help, but is often not necessary as these are water-soluble.
2. Dissolve Tetrahydropiperine: In a very small separate container, weigh the Tetrahydropiperine and the small amount of reserved Glycerin (use Glycerin at a ratio of about 200 parts Glycerin to 1 part Tetrahydropiperine). Stir until the Tetrahydropiperine powder is dissolved. Do not heat this mixture above 40°C.
3. Solubilize Coenzyme Q10: In another small separate container, weigh the Coenzyme Q10 powder and Flora Solve™ Clear. Stir thoroughly. You need enough Flora Solve™ Clear to fully disperse the Q10. A starting ratio of 5 parts Flora Solve™ Clear to 1 part Coenzyme Q10 is recommended, but you may need to adjust based on the specific Q10. Stir until the Q10 is dispersed into the solubilizer.
4. Combine Phases: Add the solubilized Coenzyme Q10 mixture from step 3 to the main water phase from step 1. Stir well to combine.
5. Add Penetration Enhancer: Add the dissolved Tetrahydropiperine mixture from step 2 to the main mixture. Stir well.
6. Add Preservative: Add Mild Preserved™ COS to the mixture. Stir until evenly distributed. Ensure the temperature is below 45°C when adding the preservative.
7. Check pH: Check the pH of the final mixture. For optimal performance of Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide, the pH should ideally be between 4.0 and 6.0. Adjust if necessary using a dilute acid (like Lactic Acid) or base (like Sodium Hydroxide solution).
8. Packaging: Pour the finished serum/toner into a clean bottle, preferably one that protects from light, as Coenzyme Q10 is sensitive to light.

This simple method allows you to create a functional serum or toner without needing emulsification or high-shear blending.
