Question

How can I make a simple, stable liquid powder formula using Zinc Oxide that provides a powdery feel and sun protection?

Answer

Simple Zinc Oxide Liquid Powder

This formula aims to provide a powdery feel and sun protection from Zinc Oxide while being easy to make and stable.

  • Water: 78.5%
  • Zinc Oxide: 20.0%
  • Aristoflex AVC: 0.5%
  • Mild Preserved™ COS: 1.0%

Instructions:

  1. Disperse Aristoflex AVC in water and stir until a uniform gel forms.
  2. Slowly add Zinc Oxide to the gelled water phase while stirring or mixing thoroughly to ensure the powder is fully dispersed.
  3. Add Mild Preserved™ COS and mix until homogeneous.
  4. Pour into a bottle. Shake well before each use.

This formula provides the powdery feel and sun protection you want from Zinc Oxide, uses a suspending agent to improve stability compared to a simple water/powder mix, and includes a preservative for safety. It does not contain the acne-treating ingredients that you suspect are causing dryness.
