Skin Irritation from Whitening Serum Ingredients
Question
I previously used Activated Resorcinol 1% dissolved in oil without experiencing any allergic reactions.
Recently, I tried using Activated Resorcinol S 4% and developed an allergic reaction. The other ingredients in the formula include:
- B3 5%
- Soy Extract 4%
- Aloe vera 3%
- Tea Tree Oil (water) 2%
I would like to know:
- Are Activated Resorcinol and Activated Resorcinol S the same ingredient?
- Could the irritation be caused by Tea Tree Oil 2%?
- Can MSH White cause skin irritation?
Answer
Regarding your experience with irritation from Activated Resorcinol S 4% compared to Activated Resorcinol 1%, and your questions about other ingredients:
Are the two types of resorcinol the same?
No, they are different in composition. Activated Resorcinol is a single substance, while Activated Resorcinol S has undergone additional processing and includes other components to improve water solubility and stability.Could the irritation be from Tea Tree Oil?
Compared to Activated Resorcinol S, Tea Tree Oil is considered more likely to cause skin irritation, especially when used at a high concentration like 2%.Can MSH White cause irritation?
MSH White is a processed amino acid. The chance of it causing skin irritation is very low, particularly when used within the manufacturer's recommended rate.
Based on the information provided, I cannot answer your questions about additional anti-irritant ingredients besides Bisabolol or whether Horse Oil can be used directly with a cream maker.
