Question

I added Snail Resin to my soap formula, which made the texture softer. Can I use Sodium Lactate to increase the hardness of the bar soap? What is the maximum safe percentage of Sodium Lactate I can use in a rinse-off soap formulation without causing excessive exfoliation?

Answer

Based on the discussion, adding Snail Resin makes the soap softer. To increase hardness, you can add Sodium Lactate.

Regarding your concern about exfoliation, the staff mentioned that the exfoliating effect of Sodium Lactate is significantly less in a rinse-off product like soap. You can safely use up to 10% Sodium Lactate in your rinse-off soap formula without concern for excessive exfoliation. The primary consideration at higher percentages would be the cost.

You can experiment with the concentration of Sodium Lactate up to 10% to find the level that gives you the desired hardness for your soap.
