Solubility of Pure-Apigenin™ 98% Powder
Question
Regarding the solubility of Pure-Apigenin™ 98% powder, can it be dissolved in water, or does it need to be dissolved in Butylene Glycol?
I am confused because the product information page states that the company sells 3 types of chamomile extracts, and Chamomile Extract (Apigenin) 98% powder is listed as soluble in water, but under the solubility section, it states: "Cannot dissolve in water."
Thank you.
Answer
Pure-Apigenin™ Solubility
Regarding the solubility of Pure-Apigenin™ 98% powder, the detailed product information clarifies that it is insoluble in water.
However, it is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and soluble in many glycols, which includes Butylene Glycol.
The mixing instructions also note that Apigenin is highly soluble in emulsifiers and is intended for use in cream or lotion formulas with a cemented emulsifier, not in formulations that are only water or gel-based. Heat up to 80°C can help with dissolution.
