Solubility of Second Skin in Oil Base

Question

I want to use Second Skin in a formulation. Can I dissolve Second Skin in a heat-resistant oil base first, and then add other oils like Macadamia Nut Oil, Avocado Oil, Shea Butter Light Oil, and Evening Primrose Oil? Will this method work, or is the heat sensitivity of the other oils a concern?

Answer

Based on the information provided, Second Skin is not suitable for dissolving in oil bases. It is recommended for use in cream formulations. Attempting to dissolve it in oil, even a heat-resistant one, and then adding other oils will likely result in separation and precipitation upon cooling.

Therefore, the method you proposed will not work because Second Skin does not dissolve clearly in oil. The issue is the compatibility of Second Skin with oil bases, not the heat sensitivity of the other oils you mentioned (Macadamia Nut Oil, Avocado Oil, Shea Butter Light Oil, Evening Primrose Oil) in this specific context of dissolving Second Skin.
