Question
Regarding the Stabilized Vitamin C (Natural-C Glycol™) Serum, I have several questions:
- Can it be applied directly to the face?
- Is a tingling sensation normal?
- How should it be used with a serum containing Pure Aloe Vera Gel, N-Acetyl-D Glucosamine, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B3, DMAE, and Centella Asiatica Extract?
- I understand that L-ascorbic acid degrades in water. My 'stabilized' serum became more liquid after water might have gotten in. Does water contamination affect the stability and effectiveness of a stabilized Vitamin C serum, even if the color hasn't changed?
Answer
Based on the conversation:
- Direct Application: Yes, the Stabilized Vitamin C (Natural-C Glycol™) Serum can be applied directly to the face.
- Tingling Sensation: It is normal to experience a tingling sensation when applying the serum. This is due to the acidic nature of Vitamin C and indicates the product's potency. The tingling should decrease with continued use as your skin gets used to it. If the tingling persists or causes redness, it is recommended to reduce the frequency of use, as your skin might be too sensitive.
- Using with other ingredients: The staff recommends using the Stabilized Vitamin C serum separately from the serum containing Pure Aloe Vera Gel, N-Acetyl-D Glucosamine, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B3, DMAE, and Centella Asiatica Extract. You could consider applying one in the morning and the other at night.
- Water Contamination: Vitamin C, especially L-ascorbic acid, is known to degrade quickly when exposed to water. While your product is "stabilized," introducing water into the bottle can still affect its stability and potentially reduce its effectiveness over time, even if the color hasn't changed yet. The change in texture (becoming more liquid) is an indication that the product may have been affected by the water.
