คำถาม

I made a cream using `Light Cream Maker™` at 6%, but the texture is very sticky.

Can I fix this stickiness by adding `Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear, Super Silky)` to the formula?

Addressing Sticky Cream Issue with Light Cream Maker™

The stickiness you are experiencing is primarily due to the high concentration of Light Cream Maker• used in your formula (6%). The recommended usage rate for Light Cream Maker• is typically 0.5-3%, with 1-1.5% being ideal for most formulations. Using it at 6% is significantly above this range, which results in a very sticky texture that is difficult to correct.

Unfortunately, at this high concentration, it is very challenging to fix the current batch of cream. Diluting it would require adding a very large amount of water, which could destabilize the formula.

Regarding your question about adding Silicone Gel (Ultra Clear, Super Silky), while this ingredient can help improve the skin feel and reduce stickiness in general, it can only offer limited improvement in this specific situation where the Light Cream Maker• is used at such a high percentage. Furthermore, Light Cream Maker• can only emulsify a limited amount of silicone (up to 10%), so adding a large quantity of Silicone Gel is not feasible as it could cause separation.

For future formulations using Light Cream Maker•, it is crucial to adhere to the recommended usage rate (0.5-3%, ideally 1-1.5%) and ensure thorough mixing or spinning during the process. Adding the cream maker gradually and allowing sufficient time for it to build viscosity (which can take a few minutes depending on the formula) will help achieve the desired texture without excessive stickiness.
