Question

My serum formulation, which includes Lift-Now and Pro Polymer, has a sticky texture. What causes this stickiness, and how can I adjust the formula to improve the texture?

Answer

Hello,

Thank you for the update on your serum formulation.

The sticky texture you are experiencing is likely due to a combination of the ingredients Lift-Now (Pullulan) and Pro Polymer. As the staff mentioned previously, Lift-Now creates a film on the skin for a temporary lifting effect, which can feel sticky or tight. Pro Polymer also creates a gel texture that can feel sticky initially before fully absorbing.

To improve the texture of your current batch, you can try adding Silicone Gel at approximately 10% of the total formula. This ingredient helps to create a smoother, less sticky feel. Mix it thoroughly into your existing serum.

For future batches using a similar formula, it is recommended to incorporate Silicone Gel (around 10%) during the mixing process to achieve a better texture from the start. You might also consider if Lift-Now is essential for your morning serum if the stickiness is primarily caused by it, or perhaps use it in a separate product applied before the serum.
