Storing Vitamin C Serum in Amber PET Bottles
Question
Can Vitamin C serum be stored in an amber PET plastic bottle if I don't intend to store it for a long time, only enough for about 1 week's use, and then mix a new batch?
Answer
Vitamin C serum is sensitive to light and air, which can cause it to degrade. Amber bottles help protect against light. While storing for only one week might reduce the risk compared to longer periods, I cannot definitively confirm if PET plastic is suitable for Vitamin C serum, even for short-term storage, based on the information available to me.
It's generally recommended to store Vitamin C serums in dark, airtight containers to maintain their stability and effectiveness. Using an amber glass bottle is often preferred over plastic for highly sensitive ingredients like Vitamin C.
