Suitable Colors and Fragrances for Oil-Based Lip Scrub

For your lip scrub formulation containing oil, you should choose colors and fragrances that are compatible with oil-based systems.

Fragrance/Flavor

You can use products specifically categorized as Flavor that are designed for lip applications. These are formulated to be safe for use on the lips and provide a pleasant taste or scent.

• Examples of suitable flavors:
  • Pineapple Kiss
  • Sugar Honey
  • Fruit Salad Girl

Color

Since your lip scrub contains oil, you need colors that can dissolve or disperse well in oil. Pigments are generally used for coloring products like lip scrubs where you want the color to be visible.

• Suitable color types:

  • PIGMENT COLOR or EASYMIX™ COLOR: These types of pigments are designed to disperse easily in oil or silicone bases, making them suitable for your lip scrub. Examples include Iron Oxides and Lake colors treated for easy dispersion.
  • Fluorescent Pigments: Some fluorescent pigments are also designed to disperse in formulations and can be used.

  • White Oxides EasyMix™
  • Red Iron Oxides EasyMix™
  • FD&C Yellow No.5 Lake EasyMix™
  • Fluorescent Magenta Pigment (dispersible pigment)

• Colors to avoid:

  • Water-soluble dyes or pigments (like natural pigments that dissolve in water and are pH-dependent) are generally not suitable for oil-based formulations as they will not mix properly.
