คำถาม

hi team, I want to ask how much this should be used in the following applications:

  • Gentle shampoo for normal / slightly oily scalp: 30% ok?

  • Facial cleansing:

  • how much to clean off make up? and how much for gentle cleaning (no make up, just simple cleansing of every day dirt)?

  • Dish washing liquid: 40% ok?

For dish washing liquid, do you think this formula is ok?

  • Distilled water:

And another thing: can you please recommend me a serum or lotion base which requires no mechanical stirrer? I want to use it to make some moisturing serum and light coverage foundation / BB cream.

Thank you!

Sulfate-Free Foaming Base Usage

  • Gentle shampoo: Using 30% Sulfate-Free Foaming Base is within the recommended range of 25-35% for shampoo and liquid soap, so it is suitable for a gentle shampoo for normal/slightly oily scalp.

  • Facial cleansing:

    • For gentle cleaning (no make-up): The recommended usage rate for facial cleansing is 15-20%. Using 15% would be appropriate for gentle daily cleansing.
    • For cleaning off make-up: A usage rate of 15-20% is recommended. Using a concentration closer to 20% might provide better efficacy for removing make-up. Depending on the type of make-up, you might also consider incorporating other cleansing agents or oils.
  • Dishwashing liquid: The Sulfate-Free Foaming Base can be used up to 40%. While 40% is the maximum allowed usage rate, the recommended range for adult formulas is 30-35%. Using 40% is acceptable but is at the upper limit of the recommended range.

Dishwashing Liquid Formula Evaluation

Your proposed formula structure using Sulfate-Free Foaming Base (40%), Glycerin (5%), SugarThick, and Preservative is a reasonable starting point for a basic dishwashing liquid.

  • The 40% Sulfate-Free Foaming Base is at the maximum recommended usage but is acceptable for a dishwashing application.
  • Glycerin at 5% is well within its usage range and can contribute to a better skin feel, although its primary benefits are less critical in a dishwashing product compared to personal care.
  • You will need to specify a percentage for SugarThick to achieve the desired viscosity. SugarThick is an appropriate thickener for this type of base, and its recommended usage rate is typically 1-3% for thickening detergent formulations.
  • Including a preservative is essential for the stability and safety of any water-based formula.

This formula provides basic cleaning properties. For enhanced performance, such as improved grease cutting or effectiveness in hard water, you might consider optimizing the formula by adding other specific surfactants or chelating agents.

Serum or Lotion Base Without Mechanical Stirrer

Finding a single base that works perfectly for both a moisturizing serum and a light coverage foundation/BB cream without any mechanical stirring can be challenging, especially when it comes to evenly dispersing pigments for the foundation/BB cream.

  • For a moisturizing serum, the Silky Serum Base is a good option. It is designed to quickly form a serum when mixed with water and water-soluble ingredients. While using a blender is recommended for ease and speed, you can mix it manually by adding water gradually in small increments and stirring thoroughly after each addition until all the water is incorporated. Please note that this base is not designed to incorporate oils.

  • For a light coverage foundation / BB cream, which requires incorporating pigments and potentially some oil-soluble components, the Moisturizing Lotion Base could be considered. Its description suggests that adding various ingredients to the base is sufficient, implying that manual mixing might be possible. However, achieving a smooth, even dispersion of pigments without a mechanical stirrer can be difficult and may require significant manual effort to avoid streaks or uneven color. Also, the capacity of this base to incorporate significant amounts of oil is not specified.

Consider using the Silky Serum Base for your serum needs and potentially the Moisturizing Lotion Base for experimenting with the foundation/BB cream, keeping in mind the potential challenges of achieving smooth pigment dispersion without mechanical assistance.
