Question
My sunscreen formula contains Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, and Silicone Gel. I used SiliSolve, but the formula separated. What is causing this separation, and how can I fix it?
Answer
Hello,
Regarding the separation issue with your sunscreen formula, based on the previous discussion:
- Your formula contains several types of silicones (Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Silicone Gel).
- SiliSolve is primarily used to emulsify water and silicone, but your formula does not contain water.
- The separation is likely due to the difficulty in blending multiple types of silicones without a suitable emulsifier for this specific purpose.
The suggestion from the staff and another user is correct: you should use Silicone Blender to help emulsify and stabilize the different silicones in your formula. Silicone Blender is designed to help combine various silicone types.
The staff also offered to help adjust your formula if you can provide details on the desired characteristics and approximate SPF value.
Hope this helps!
