Question

I have a sunscreen formula containing Water, Vitamin B3, SPF Protect Ultra™, Light Cream Maker, Matte Silica (5%), and Lipid soft light (5%).

1. Are the percentages of Matte Silica and Lipid soft light at 5% appropriate?
2. What is the correct mixing procedure to achieve a cream texture, and how long should it take?

Answer

Based on the staff's response, the amounts of Matte Silica (5%) and Lipid soft light (5%) in your sunscreen formula are appropriate.

The staff also provided some helpful tips for the mixing process:

  • It will take a fair amount of mixing or blending time to achieve the desired cream texture.
  • When adding the water phase (Water + Vitamin B3) to the oil/sunscreen phase (SPF Protect Ultra™ + Light Cream Maker + Lipid soft light), add it slowly, bit by bit, while continuously mixing or blending. Adding all the water at once will significantly increase the time required to form the cream.
