Key Ingredient Categories:

• Base Oils: To provide the moisturizing and "oil" feel of a tanning oil, you would select nourishing oils. Examples include Fractionated Coconut Oil or Babassu Oil (Refined), which are lightweight and easily absorbed.

• UV Filters: To achieve SPF, you need to incorporate UV filters. For an oil-based product, oil-soluble filters are typically used. You would need a combination of filters to provide broad-spectrum protection against both UVB (responsible for sunburn) and UVA (contributing to aging and dark spots) rays. Examples of oil-soluble UVB filters found include Homosalate and Enzacamene. Formulating to a specific SPF level requires precise ratios and testing.

• Anti-Dark Spot Agents: To help prevent and reduce dark spots, you can incorporate oil-soluble skin brightening ingredients. Activated Resorcinol™ and Phenylethyl Resorcinol are examples of effective oil-soluble ingredients known for their ability to reduce pigmentation.
