Thickening Your Galactomyces Serum

To thicken your Galactomyces-based serum and achieve a serum or gel texture, you will need to add a water-soluble thickener to your formula. Your current formula consists of Galactomyces (71%), Bifida (15%), Niacinamide (10%), and Glucosamine (4%).

Here are a few suitable thickeners for your serum:

• Sepimax Zen: A versatile polymer thickener that is easy to use and provides good clarity and texture. It has good tolerance for electrolytes, which is beneficial with ingredients like Niacinamide and Glucosamine. Typical usage rate is 0.5-2%.
• Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer: Another easy-to-use polymer that forms clear gels and is tolerant of electrolytes. Typical usage rate is 0.5-3%.
• Hyaluronic Acid (Standard Molecule): Provides thickening and hydration. It forms a gel when dispersed in water. Typical usage rate is 0.1-1% for thickening.

When adding a thickener, you must reduce the percentage of your other ingredients to keep the total at 100%. The simplest way is to reduce the percentage of the base ingredient, Galactomyces.

For example, if you add 1.5% thickener (like Sepimax Zen), your adjusted formula could be:

• Galactomyces: 69.5%
• Bifida: 15%
• Niacinamide: 10%
• Glucosamine: 4%
• Thickener (e.g., Sepimax Zen): 1.5%

Adjust the thickener percentage within the recommended range to get your desired texture.

Mixing Instructions:

1. Dissolve Niacinamide and Glucosamine in a portion of the Galactomyces or distilled water. Gentle warming is okay, but avoid prolonged high heat.
2. Add your chosen thickener to the water phase while stirring until dispersed and thickened.
3. Once thickened and cooled below 40°C, add the Bifida and remaining Galactomyces.
4. Mix well.
